I am a NRI, I would like to set up wireless broadband internet for my family in Bangalore. I heard Data cards are not that good. Basically we require Chat, Voip, some mails checking. Can you please recommend a good service provider and a right plan if possible? Thanks in advance

How do you save money with a Broadband Phone?

Why would using a broadband phone be cheaper? Especially since you still need to pay the land line phone company for the dial tone to use your DSL Broadband connection?

Don’t you essentially wind up with 2 phone bills, your land phone bill and you broadband phone bill?

Is the savings more for people who use a lot of long distance?

It depends on how you get DSL service, whom you have it through, and which broadband phone service you want to use.

DSL is not a phone line. Just keep that in mind. Its provided by your phone company, but that’s the extent of it.

Just think of it this way,
you have a land line ($40 mo)
You have internet service (cable/dsl) – $50/mo
You have your dsl line – ($30 /mo)

So now, you look at broadband phone and it purporst to be $30/mo
You can now nix your landline from your phone company since you’ll be saving $10 / mo with the broadband service.

or you can nix both your dsl and land line, GET cable internet (better) and then the broadband phone line.

Even more money saved.

I am spending nearly two hours daily on net and paying Rs. twenty for that. I want to know if i have dial up or broadband which will be cheaper. I shall be thankful if some body makes out calculation of it at the earliest.

Dial up is cheaper but its speed is also limited.I advise u to go for Broadband Internet connection being offered by BSNL which is priced from Rs.250/- per month, onwards. U can apply for one ‘ on line ‘ or get in touch with ur local bsnl office.I have no information where u live.BSNL offers in certain places but not villages.Please check it out.

Most of the providers have broadband plans for around $20 some less, some more depending on your plan. If you know the zip code your in, you need to figure out which provider has the best coverage area for that as well as calls. I know someone who is an I.R. for all major cellular phone providers. If your looking for a new plan, or upgrading an existing plan, she can help you with figuring out which provider to go through and help you get a phone cheaper then going into the providers store or web site on your own. I want a sega dreamcast broadband adapter. Were could I find a very cheap one? Maybe one that someone made by hand or a 3rd party one. I don’t have 200 bucks to spent on one on eBay.

Unfortunately, there are no 3rd party broadband adapters made for the Dreamcast. You have to remember that DSL was not as common during that time. Many people were still using a 56K modem.

For that reason, Sega only released a limited number of official Dreamcast broadband adapters since DSL users were the minority. It is all about supply and demand.That is why the adapter is now so expensive.

You may try to find it on craigslist. The price would certainly be cheaper the Ebay or a vintage store.

my bt bills still seem exessive. i call mobiles alot so is there a better option?

if you check your settings on your broadband, make sure you read the headings right, because you can only use from 6pm to 6am and only talk for 59mins then hang up and dial back, there is only about 3 options to choose from so look through and pick yourself the best one

Can I get Sky Broadband on a cheaper line rental than BT?

Okay here’s the deal. I want to get a 3 way sky bundle. TV, Broadband and Phone. If I get sky talk i save 5 pounds on my broadband. But Line rental with BT is 11.25 per month and I was wondering if there was a cheaper line rental i could use with Sky.

Plus is Sky Broadband actually good? It seemed like a really good deal because they don’t have a fair usage policy on their unlimited internet package.
So yeah, is sky really my best bet?
Plus i heard the speed of the broadband depends on your location.
Im in Zone 2 in London. Island Gardens. its near Canary Wharf.
