How easy is it to do? Would it be cheaper on utilities to go with an electric furnace rather than gas?
Ok I didnt know location made a difference, so I live in Nebraska and right now its 30 degrees outside brrr damnit!

There are lots of factors that go into answering this question. How many square feet are you heating, how well is the house insulated, how long are you planning on living there, how old is your current furance etc. In general gas is cheaper. Sorry I could not be more help.

There are many kinds of furnaces. You will have to do some reading on the different kinds and call for estimates in your area. There are many features that can be added so that would change the price as well.
Much better to go to a home center in your area. They know your climate and will be able to give you better advice than people here who do not even know where you live.
